LIVE TO LOVE PENANG – October 2011

This month, Live to Love Penang continued to support the tree planting in Alor Star. The school involved is S.J.K.(C) Peng Min. Thanks to Mr. Saw Ah Swee and Ms. Lim Yang Yang who coordinated this activity in Alor Star.

For this activity, Michael Tan led the team of 16 from Penang & Alor Star to participate in this activity. A total of 11 trees comprising mainly Khaya, red palms and green palms were to be planted.

When we arrived the school, we were greeted by Headmaster and a few board members of the school. It took us approximately 45 minutes to complete the planting. And during the school break, many students came to see how we planted the trees, and we took the opportunities to explain to them the process and how they should take care of the trees thereafter.

Upon completion of the planting, we proceeded to the School Hall where Mr. Thor presented to a few classes of students on the mission of Live to Love and the importance of Tree Planting In Protecting the Environment. His briefing which emphasized that “Our Earth Is Very Sick” drew a lot of attention and participation from the students. At the end of briefing, a quiz was conducted and the winners were presented with a Live to Love T shirt and Eco-Bag. 

The Headmaster also gave a speech commending Live to Love efforts in protecting the environment and presented a small token of appreciation to Live to Love, which was accepted by Head of Live to Love Penang, Mr. Ong Tong Lam. Thereafter we were invited for lunch prepared by the school.

Since the Alor Star chapter is relatively new in this activity, hence for this initial period, we will be supporting their activities in Alor Star until they have recruited more members and can carry out the activities on their own.
